Meet Saba Anvery

Values

  • Integrity: Holds herself and her team to high standards in both words and actions.

  • Transparency: Believes in gaining trust through transparency.

  • Equity and Representation: Drawing from her lived experience, Saba understands the importance of equity and representation for a safe, just, and prosperous community.

Why is Saba running?

Participation in Government: Saba grew up in the UAE and in Pakistan. One country is a monarchy and the other had a military dictatorship through most of her childhood. She saw firsthand the unhappy results that ensue when citizens cannot participate in government. Saba understands that democracy is messy and slow, but it is precious and fragile, and it can only work when ordinary people participate in it.

Hillsboro is Home: Saba has lived in Hillsboro for twenty-four years. This is where she learned to drive, where she and her husband work and where her children are growing up. The air is clean, the parks are plentiful, the libraries and schools are thriving, the soil is rich, and the people are down to earth and welcoming. Hillsboro offered Saba safety, community and opportunity. Saba wants to be part of making sure that Hillsboro is where everyone’s children, including hers, choose to live.

Problem solver and Collaborator: Hillsboro is facing issues of housing, transportation and inequality in economic opportunities. In addition, climate change is further complicating these issues. Saba is an engineer and has been an engineering manager since 2015; she is a problem solver. She has learned that for a successful solution she must seek out and listen to every voice and then collaborate to find a solution. She firmly believes that it is her responsibility to utilize her expertise and dedicate her time to enhance the level of equity for all individuals within the vibrant community of Hillsboro.
